Living in Fleetwood

Fleetwood is a seaside town at the northern end of the coastal tramway that runs down to Blackpool. If you are thinking of renting one of our homes here, this short guide covers the seafront, getting about and the local services you are likely to need first.
The seafront
Fleetwood has two beaches, Marine Beach and Ferry Beach, and Wyre Council says both fly the Seaside Award flag. There is also a designated bathing water at Fleetwood, and you can check its latest water quality on GOV.UK.
On the promenade between Fleetwood and Cleveleys, Rossall Point Tower has two viewing decks and binoculars for bird watching, with views over the Irish Sea and across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland fells and the Forest of Bowland. If you enjoy cycling, Wyre Council runs relaxed social rides along Fleetwood Promenade.
Parks and green spaces
Wyre Council looks after a good spread of parks in the town, including Marine Gardens, Memorial Park, Euston Gardens, The Mount and Larkholme Grasslands. The council describes them as coastal and town green spaces with seafront views, play areas and peaceful spots for walks.
Getting around
Fleetwood Ferry is the northern end of the tram route, which runs the length of the coast through Cleveleys to Starr Gate in Blackpool. Blackpool Transport says trams run as often as every 10 minutes in the daytime, seven days a week, and the tram calls at North Station for trains from Blackpool North.
For what is on locally, the Visit Fleetwood Centre at Marine Hall is run by Wyre Council and has information on events, attractions and days out.
Council services
Two councils share the work here. Wyre Council collects your bins and handles council tax. Lancashire County Council runs Fleetwood library, which also has a local history service with its own opening times.
Food waste is collected weekly on your usual bin day, and the green bin for garden waste is only emptied if you take out a subscription with Wyre Council.
