Living in Fleetwood
Getting around
Blackpool Transport's route 14 runs from Fleetwood Ferry through Thornton to Blackpool town centre, and route 1 runs along the coast through Cleveleys to St Annes. The tram runs from Fleetwood the whole length of the seafront to Starr Gate, and Transpora's service 24 links Fleetwood with Blackpool town centre.
Schools
School places here are handled by Lancashire County Council, not Wyre. Applications for secondary school usually close on 31 October and for primary school on 15 January, and if you move mid year you can apply for an in year place. A rental agreement can be used as proof of your new address. You can read any school's Ofsted report and compare schools on GOV.UK.
Doctors and dentists
Registering with a GP is free, and you don't need ID or proof of address. Use the NHS to find a GP or find a dentist near your new home.
Council tax and bins
Wyre Council collects council tax. For 2026/27 Fleetwood's charge is £1,660.91 a year for a Band A home, including the town council's amount, before any discount. You can check any home's band on GOV.UK. Wyre's bins are grey for general waste, red for mixed recycling, blue for paper and card, and green for garden waste, plus a food caddy, and there's a household waste recycling centre in Fleetwood.
Parks and the seafront
Marine Gardens runs alongside the beach, with a large playground including inclusive play equipment, a skate bowl and picnic areas. Memorial Park is a Green Flag park in the heart of the town, and The Mount, created in 1836 as the centre point of Decimus Burton's design for Fleetwood, is Grade II listed.

How can I rent one of your homes in Fleetwood?
Join our waiting list and choose Fleetwood. When one of our homes there becomes available, we'll email you with the details and how to arrange a viewing. We use the same published checklist for everyone, including household income of at least 3 times the monthly rent from all sources, benefits included.
Do you welcome children, people on benefits and pets?
We never refuse anyone because they have children or receive benefits, and since 1 May 2026 that is also the law for landlords in England. Pets are considered case by case.
How much is the deposit, and is it protected?
By law, a tenancy deposit is capped at five weeks' rent where the yearly rent is under £50,000. We protect deposits with the Deposit Protection Service within 30 days, as the law requires.
How long is the tenancy?
Since 1 May 2026 every private tenancy in England rolls on with no end date. If you decide to move on, you give two months' notice in writing.
Do I need a guarantor?
Only if you need one to meet our income check. A guarantor should earn at least 2.5 times the rent and have a good credit record. They don't need to own their home.
