Living in west London: Greenford, Ealing and Harrow

Our west London homes are spread across two boroughs. Greenford, Perivale, Southall and Ealing are in the London Borough of Ealing, and Harrow has its own council. If you are thinking of renting with us here, this short guide covers getting about, green spaces and the local services you are likely to need first.

Getting around

Transport for London lists these lines at the main local stations:

• Greenford and Perivale: Central line. Greenford also has a National Rail service.
• Ealing Broadway: Central, District and Elizabeth lines.
• Southall: Elizabeth line.
• Harrow-on-the-Hill: Metropolitan line.
• Harrow & Wealdstone: Bakerloo line and the Lioness line of London Overground.

Parks and green spaces

Horsenden Hill in Perivale is a 100-hectare site of meadows, wetland and ancient woodland, and Ealing Council says it is the largest nature conservation area in the borough. Its summit, at 84 metres, is the highest point in Ealing, and part of the site runs alongside the Grand Union Canal. Nearby, Pear Tree Park in Perivale opened in August 2024. At the edge of Ealing Broadway, Walpole Park has been a public park since 1901.

Harrow Council says over 20% of the borough is park or open space, with 80 green spaces in all. Ten of its parks hold a Green Flag award, including Canons Park, Harrow Recreation Ground and Headstone Manor Park.

Council services

• Greenford, Perivale, Southall and Ealing: Ealing Council handles bins, council tax and libraries.
• Harrow: Harrow Council handles bins, council tax and six libraries across the borough.

Both councils let you look up your bin collection day online, which is well worth doing in your first week. In Ealing, food waste goes every week and recycling and rubbish on alternate weeks.
